A day in the Life: Chaperoning Pugsley
10th March 2026 at Hackness Grange Wedding Venue
When I arrived at Hackness Grange near Scarborough, Pugsley was being walked around the grounds by a family member, taking in the calm before the celebrations began. This is where I stepped in, taking over his care so his family could fully relax and enjoy the day ahead.
Pugsley made it very clear from the start, he wanted to be part of everything. We wandered through the beautiful grounds, stopping often for plenty of sniffs and exploring along the way.
Before long, it was time for him to get ready. Freshened up and dressed in his beautiful collar, complete with bow tie and matching lead, he was more than ready for his starring role. He quickly found Freddie, the photographer, and posed perfectly among the daffodils. Not long after, he made his way over to Ellora for a few quiet pre-ceremony moments and photos together.
As guests began to arrive, Pugsley took it upon himself to welcome them… all of them. Possibly more than once. He soaked up every bit of attention, greeting everyone with enthusiasm and charm.
Then came his big moment. He waited patiently for James, his dad, before the two of them made their way over the bridge and down the aisle together - like two peas in a pod. Afterwards, I guided Pugsley to a seat so he could watch his mum walk down the aisle and be there as James and Ellora said “I do”, he was present for every moment. We then made our way back across the bridge for the confetti. Pugsley wasn’t entirely sure what was happening, but he knew it was something exciting, surrounded by cheers, laughter, and celebration.
Next came photos, where cheese became the real MVP. It worked perfectly to keep his attention for those special moments that will be treasured forever, with the whole family gathered to celebrate.
Once it was time for the speeches and meal, Pugsley enjoyed a well-earned rest in one of the rooms, fast asleep and snoring away after a busy and exciting day. Later, he was back out again, ready to greet the evening guests with just as much enthusiasm as before.
Pugsley truly made the most of every moment, from greeting guests, exploring the grounds of Hackness Grange, and being right at the heart of the day.
